Alexandria Food and Wine Festival 6/27/2015 12-6 | News Release | Alexandria Food and Wine Festival

The 4th Annual Alexandria’s Food & Wine Festival is set to return this summer at a new waterfront location on Saturday, June 27th. This year’s event will take place from 12:00PM -6:00PM on Old Town’s waterfront at Oronoco Bay Park.

The festival is a community-based event featuring tastes of local foods and wine, as well as artisans, a Children’s Corner, and live entertainment. The event will transform Oronoco Bay Park into a lively festival easily accessible by car, Metrorail or Dash Bus.

Attendees will be able to sample food and wine from a variety of local restaurants and Virginia’s wineries.  Local restaurants will compete for the best appetizer, the best main course and the best dessert – judged by notable DC foodie judges (to be announced soon).  There will also be food demonstrations sponsored by Sur La Table in which they will provide demos throughout the day.

Alexandria’s Food & Wine Festival 2015 participating restaurants and wineries include:

Wineries: Democracy Vineyard, Mattaponi Winery, Horton Winery, The Williamsburg Winery, Rogers Ford, Rebec Vineyards, James River Cellars, Desert Rose, Lake Anna Winery, and Athena Vineyards. (more to be announced)

Every year the festival donates a portion of the festival proceeds to a local non-profit. This year’s charity of choice is SB Productions. SB Productions is a Virginia non-profit corporation that exists to give back to the local community through grants available for local non-profit organizations involved with but not limited to environment protection, women’s rights, children, poverty, and health.

This is a free event to attend; however tickets are needed to sample food and beverages.
