APD “Shots Fired” Notification Change | News Release | City of Alexandria

The Alexandria Police Department has been notifying the public of all “shots fired” calls that it receives, even if there is no evidence that a crime occurred. In order to more accurately relay incidents related to public safety, the Police Department will now only put out a “shots fired” notification if there is evidence that a weapon violation occurred. This update is especially important considering the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and the predominant use of fireworks in the next few weeks.
