Call for Nominations for the Ad Hoc Combined Sewer System Plan Stakeholder Group
For Immediate Release: July 21, 2015
On June 23, 2015, Alexandria City Council approved a resolution to establish an Ad Hoc Combined Sewer System Plan Stakeholder Group to assist in monitoring the development of the Long Term Control Plan Update for the City’s Combined Sewer System. The Long Term Control Plan Update, required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) to meet new permit requirements, is due to VDEQ by August 23, 2016.
The Stakeholder Group will provide input to staff on a final recommended plan to VDEQ, including considerations on the City’s cost, meeting environmental goals, and minimizing impacts to the community. The Stakeholder Group is anticipated to meet on an ad hoc basis, with the schedule determined in an initial organizing meeting to be scheduled in September.
The Stakeholder Group will be comprised of 13 members appointed by the City Manager, including five “at-large” membership positions:
- Member who is a resident of Hunting Point or Porto Vecchio (1);
- Member who is a resident of the Carlyle area community (1);
- At-large members who have engineering, environmental, public finance or related knowledge and experience (2);
- Member who is nominated by a local environmental advocacy group (1).
