DON’T MISS ALEXANDRIA’S IRISH FESTIVAL – AUGUST 8, 2015

(June 15, 2015)  Alexandria’s 30th annual Irish Festival, hosted by the Ballyshaners, will be held Saturday, August 8, rain or shine, from 11am-7:30pm at Waterfront Park, 1-A Prince Street.    The colorful opening ceremonies are not to be missed. These will be held at 12:00 noon and will feature local dignitaries, the City of Alexandria Pipes and Drums, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians Color Guard.

Admission is free and open to all ages.  Proceeds from the sale of food and beverages fully support Alexandria’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled for March 5, 2016.

Alexandria’s Irish Festival is a grand tradition, with an entertainment stage featuring continuous live Irish dancing and music from 12 noon – 7:30pm.  The program includes internationally renowned singer/songwriter Dee Reilly, Pat Garvey, and Alexandria’s own Wild Irish Roses.  Award winning Irish dance groups will storm the stage.  Performances by the O’Neill-James School of Irish Dance, the Culkin School of Irish Dance, and the Boyle School of Irish Dance are always crowd pleasers.  The Washington Scottish Pipes and Drums will also make an appearance.  Rounding out the non-stop performances will be the ShamrockRs, Rocky Guttman, and Ronan Cavanaugh.

Over 20 local purveyors will be on hand to provide delicious Irish food and gift items.  Space is still available if you would like to register as a vendor.  For more information, please visit http://www.ballyshaners.org/festival

Last year’s event drew over 10,000 people to Alexandria’s historic Waterfront Park, in the heart of Old Town, Virginia.

Come for the music, stay for the fun, and be confident that you are supporting one of Alexandria’s major cultural events, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
