Seasonal Produce – Packable School Snacks, Week 1: Carrots
The beginning of school doesn’t mean the end of market! For the next three weeks, we’re going to highlight market produce that would pack perfectly into little lunches. This week we’re looking at local carrots! Kids love the unique colors that are available, beyond just the normal orange, and they tend to be skinnier and easier for small hands to grab. Pack them up with ranch or peanut butter for a delicious snack high in Vitamin A and protein.
Market Events – Bicycle Clinic with Velocity
Haul your bike to the market and have Velocity staff take a look at your ride. Pump available for proper inflation, lube for eliminating that squeaky-mouse chain problem, learn how to fix a flat, get your brakes adjusted, your derailleur realigned, or a spoke tightened! The Velocity team will be set up in front of the stage this Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
Market Events – Live Music with Alex Young this Saturday!
Alex Young will be playing acoustic jams on the stage from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Bring your little ones and have a dance party!

Market to Table Recipe – Colored Peppers
Who likes colored peppers? Well, there’s a lot of them at Old Town Farmers’ Market! Get to market this Saturday and stock up…great for stuffed peppers, sautéing, or freezing! Here’s a great summer pepper salad recipe that is quick to make and very light and refreshing. You can find colored peppers at Charlotte Hall, Spring Valley, Bigg Riggs, Diaz Farm, Montoya Farm, Dunham’s Farm, and Lopez Farm.
