Firefighters Doing Back-to-School Good | By Jennifer | Old Town Post

Firefighters are getting ready to doing some serious back-to-school good and provide a little fun! Firefighters partnered with several business and are providing over 2,000 backpacks with school supplies to approximately 50 area schools, local shelters and nonprofits.  The do-gooders have also wrangled barbers and hairstylists to provide haircuts for over 150 kids. Details follow:

Backpacks & Haircuts — Friday, 28 August 2015, 10am-2pm

Alexandria Fire Department and Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department are providing haircuts and backpacks to kids at the Charles House Recreation Center.

Haircuts  — Wednesday, 3 September 2015, 10am-2pm 

Fairfax County firefighters will sponsor kid’s haircuts at Gum Springs Community Center (8100 Fordson Road, Alexandria). There will be clowns, face painting, and moon bounces as well as equipment on display from Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department, Fairfax Police, and Virginia State Police.

Backpacks Distributed — Thursday, September 4, 2015, from 10am-2pm

Fairfax County firefighters will distribute backpacks and schools supplies at Fire and Rescue Station 11, Penn Daw (6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria).
