Firefighters and Medics across the country will be collecting money this weekend in their fill the boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). For over 60 years the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) has teamed up with MDA to raise awareness and funds for Jerry’s Kids.
Be alert while driving this weekend in and around O’Town as AFD personnel will be in many roadway intersections collecting money. Neighboring jurisdictions, such as Fairfax County and Arlington, will also be collecting money at various intersections.
The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has supported MDA for more than six decades with steadfast drive and uncommon caring – and MDA wants to say THANK YOU!
MDA and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) are celebrating more than 60 years of a partnership committed to saving lives. As the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s largest national sponsor, the IAFF fuels MDA’s mission to save and improve the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS and other diseases that severely limit strength and mobility, helping them live longer and grow stronger.
IAFF efforts for MDA include the organization’s spirited Fill the Boot campaign, in which fire fighters hit the streets where they ask pedestrians, motorists and other passers-by to contribute – money in the boot – for MDA. Fire fighters also devote countless hours every year at MDA Summer Camp sessions around the country, where thousands of children with neuromuscular disease experience a week where anything is possible while gaining confidence and independence – all at no cost to their families.
Fill the Boot and IAFF contributions from charity baseball games and other local events help support MDA’s efforts to fund promising research, provide support services and rally communities.
