Sign up for the 1st Annual 5K 9/11 Heroes run on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Carl Sandburg Middle School at 8428 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria, VA .  Online registration closes on September 9, 2015 at midnight.  Even if online registration has closed there is still time to join in on the race by showing up.  The race starts at 9:00 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. You can also donate online if you don’t have the time to make the race or just simply don’t care to run.

The purpose of the race (excerpt from the 9/11 heroes race website) is:

THE 9/11 HEROES RUN UNITES COMMUNITIES INTERNATIONALLY WITH THE GOAL TO NEVER FORGET THE SACRIFICES OF THE HEROES OF SEPTEMBER 11TH AND IN THE WARS SINCE: VETERAN, FIRST RESPONDER, CIVILIAN, AND MILITARY. JOIN US TO RAISE AWARENESS AND HONOR THE FALLEN.

Run, Volunteer, Donate, Cheer…but most of all: HONOR The 9/11 Heroes Run 5k +1M fun run/walk welcomes runners and walkers of all levels and of all ages. Events take place all over the world, on or near September 11th, and are 100% organized by local community volunteers. It is the perfect opportunity for your community to personally come out and thank your local veterans, their families, and first responders in an annual, fun, and family friendly environment! *Please note not all race locations include a 1 mile fun run/walk

Proceeds benefit the Travis Manion Foundation and Fisher House which are both charities to assist our Nation’s veterans and the families of fallen heroes.
