Metro riders are fed up with the ongoing problems at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (wmata).  The main concerns being heard are overcrowded trains, seemingly endless track work, consistently late trains and safety concerns.  A group has gotten together and formed their own union in order to have their opinions and voices heard.

The name of the group is the Washington Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Riders Union (wmataru).  Their website is wmataru.org. They are on Twitter @wmataru and have amassed over 1800 followers.  If you would like to join the group you may click on the following link: Join wmataru.  To date they have between 900 and 1000 members.  If you would just like further information you can go to their website.  Their mission statement and goals are listed there.

Graham Jenkins, the founding member of wmataru, appeared on the Kojo Nnamdi Show on WAMU 88.5 today and discussed their issues.
