Cinderella Pumpkins

Fall at Market Produce – Heirloom Cinderella Pumpkins!
Halloween is in the air at the Old Town Farmers’ Market!  You’ve all seen the jack-o-lanterns at market, but have you seen the heirloom Cinderella pumpkins?  This heirloom variety originated in France and is said to be the inspiration for Cinderella’s famous fairy-tale carriage.  These make great fall decorations that don’t necessarily scream “Halloween!”  And, you can also use them for baking!  With a medium pumpkin weighing in at 25 lbs, these whoppers might be best to pick up at the very end of your shopping.  Pick them up from Dunham Farm while they last.

Halloween on the Farm
Halloween Market Events
We’re so excited that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year! We’re going to be hosting local author Shannon Jones from Keekee’s Big Adventures  on October 31st at 10:00 am on the stage for a kid’s book reading.  Come a bit early for facepaint cat nose and whiskers!  Dress in your costumes because following the book reading at 10:45 am we’re going to have a costume parade around market, complete with healthy trick or treating!  As Halloween gets closer, make sure to check out our Facebook for more information.

Kids Market Field Trip
Children’s Market Field Trip
Children from the Charles Houston Recreation Center had fun at our Kids’ Market Field Trip last week!  They learned where their food comes from by talking to a farmer, trying a new fruit and vegetable, buying a fruit and vegetable of their choice, and completing a scavenger hunt!  Thank you to the Charles Houston Recreation Center for bringing these great kids, our volunteers for taking the kids around the market, and our market vendors!
