The Potomac River will be lit up with lights on Saturday, December 5, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Boats, limited to 60, will be illuminated and adorned with decorations as they cruise up the Potomac from the Old Town Alexandria docks to their final destination at the Southwest waterfront in Washington D.C.

The parade is led by the Alexandria Fire Department’s fireboat named the Vigilant and by the DC fireboat named the John Glenn.  Tommy McFly of 94.7 FM will be the parade announcer.  The event is free and open to the public.

Santa always seems to make a visit at the Old Town Docks prior to the parade of lights.  The fireboats somehow know where to find him and offer him a free ride.  Santa’s estimated time of arrival is 4:15 p.m..  Santa always has time for free photos.
