Greetings!
Just in case you didn’t get enough sports over the weekend and last night with the NFL playoffs and NCAA championship, I thought I would provide you information on some local sporting events happening right in our City!
Today, the Bishop Ireton boys basketball team tips-off against 3rdranked Gonzaga and the T.C. Williams boys team tips-off against West Springfield. On Thursday, Episcopal girl hoopsters play Flint Hill at 6PM. On Friday, the BI boys have another tough game at home against #2 ranked St. John’s and TCW goes up against Mt. Vernon High School. Also on Friday, Episcopal hosts the Maroon and Black Relays at 4PM at which St. Stephen’s St. Agnes and many others will compete at Indoor Track. And if you haven’t seen enough local sports by Friday, the 8th ranked and 11-2 Episcopal boys basketball team takes on St. Stephen’s on Saturday at 6PM at EHS. Please check school schedules to confirm event dates/times.
And don’t forget, the ASC has a great event scheduled for next Tuesday, January 19th, at the Old Dominion Boat Club on 1 King Street: Washington Nationals “Insider Night.” The National’s Director of Player Development, Mark Scialabba, will preview spring baseball and the upcoming season prior to the Team’s departure to Spring Training. Visit the ASC website to learn more about Mark Scialabba and the event next Tuesday which begins with a reception at 6:30PM.
Look forward to seeing you around town!

The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club, founded in 1947, is a non-profit and civic organization. Our sole purposes are to support local high school athletics and to recognize the achievements of our young athletes on the field and in the classroom. The sportsman’s club membership meets at the Old Dominion Boat Club on the third Tuesday of each month, where we gather in the fellowship of others with a shared interest in promoting competitive and recreational youth activities in Alexandria. We also present an Athlete of the Month Award recognizing a student-athlete selected from one of our four high schools. At each meeting a prominent speaker is featured. All meetings also feature drinks and snacks provided by the Sportsman’s Club, as well as a community dinner following the award presentation and the speaker. Please join us in helping to recognize and support our community’s youth athletes! The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club (ASC) is a wonderful organization in our community and allows Old Town Post to publish materials they send to their members.
