Local Alexandria Sports | Newsletter | Alexandria Sportsman’s Club

Greetings!
The purpose of this email is to get you fired up for exciting City of Alexandria sporting events and to invite you to join the Alexandria Sportsman’s Club in supporting and participating in these activities.
First, the Sportsman’s Club will host its last monthly meeting of this school year on Tuesday, February 16th at the ODBC in Old Town.  We will continue our baseball theme, that was so successful last month with Washington National’s Night, by hosting our high school baseball and softball coaches. The coaches will preview their spring seasons describing their programs, goals and challenges. Look forward to seeing the entire baseball community at this meeting.
Second, the winter sports aren’t over yet so don’t miss some important home games with tournament seeding on-the-line over the next couple of weeks. The 11th ranked Episcopal boys basketball team faces the Bullis School on Saturday, February 6th and the 20th ranked SSSAS Saints take on Bullis on February 9th; what a treat to have two top-twenty teams in our City. Also, on this Saturday, if you don’t mind travelling to the District to watch some of the best high school wrestling in the nation, go to Gonzaga to watch Bishop Ireton compete in the WCAC tournament.  The Cardinal wrestlers, led by Seniors Trey Lovisone, Joey Siedlarz and Ryan Walsh, dominated the City of Alexandria Tournament and beat Gonzaga last week on the mat.  Lastly, the TCW Boys Basketball Team hosts Woodson on Friday night, February 12th.  This is Senior Night for TCW and the game will be followed by the induction of distinguished football coaches Herman Boone and Bill Yost into the Alexandria City Athletics Hall of Fame.  Too many good games to mention and certainly check the school schedules to confirm days and times, but you can be sure that the Sportsman’s Club will be out supporting these events.
Lastly, I’d like to ask you to put on your calendars the remaining Sportsman’s Club events of this school year which you will be hearing a lot more about in the coming weeks:  the 2nd of our two annual scholarship fund raising events, the ACT for Alexandria Spring2Action campaign will occur on April 20th; the ASC will go to a National’s Baseball game on April 24th with good tickets available to all; and the Sportsman’s Club 61st Annual Banquet will occur on May 25th.
We have a lot to be thankful for living in the City of Alexandria and our outstanding student-athletes are something to be proud of.  The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club is proud to be the City’s greatest supporter of our Community athletics.
See you on February 16th at High School Baseball and Softball Coaches Night.
