Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel were dispatched for a dog that fell through the ice at approximately 8:40 a.m. on February 17, 2016.

The 75-pound dog fell through thin ice on Lake Thoreau at 2004 Turtle Pond Drive in Reston. Department members found the dog struggling to get out of the ice upon arrival.  Crew members quickly donned ice commander suits and rescued the dog in under 10 minutes from receiving the call for help.

The dog was evaluated by the medics on the scene and was turned over to the owner with no injuries.
