George Washington’s birthday may be over, but we’re still celebrating!
On Saturday, February 27, we will be hosting a special “Talking with Washington,” a FREE program designed for kids and featuring a conversation with Martha Washington (portrayed by accomplished interpreter, Mary Wiseman). Mrs. Washington (who was called Patsy by her friends) will answer questions about her life as a military wife to General Washington, as our nation’s first “First Lady”, and the life and times at her home, Mount Vernon. “Talking with Washington” will run from 10:30 to 11:30am at the Lloyd House, 220 North Washington Street, Alexandria, 22314. Bring the whole family to join in the conversation!
And be sure to join us on Sunday, February 28, for the last “Walking with Washington,” a FREE tour of just a few of the 140 locations in Alexandria connected to George Washington. This walking tour (which runs between 60- and 90- minutes) begins at 2:00pm at the Ramsay House Visitors Center, 221 King St, Alexandria 22314. No pre-registration necessary! Perfect for families, history buffs, visitors, or Alexandria natives. These tours won’t be back until February 2017!
