In February, the Alexandria Sportsman’s Club had its last monthly meeting of the membership year. However, you should put three upcoming events on your calendar at which you can join us in the fun while supporting the Organization and the Community.
April 20th. Plan to support deserving student-athletes in our Community by donating to the Alexandria Sportsman’s Club Scholarship Fund. This giving day is facilitated through the Alexandria Community Trust “Spring2Action” fundraising campaign. This is the second of our annual fundraising events. Your generous donations during our Holiday Giving Campaign in December 2015 will enable the ASC to provide more scholarships this year than last. Your donations on April 20th, during Spring2Action, will help sustain the long term stability of our Scholarship Fund. You will hear more about Spring2Action over the coming weeks.
April 24th. Buy tickets now and plan to attend the ASC’s Annual “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” event on Sunday, April 24th, as our Washington Nationals take on the Minnesota Twins in an early season match-up. Active ASC donors can purchase great seats in Section 243 at a discounted group price of $16 per ticket. The seats have excellent sight lines; are very close to great food and drink options; and, most importantly, you will be sitting with ASC donors and friends, as well as a contingent of neighbors from the City of Alexandria, Department of Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Activities. As always, the ASC will donate 50 tickets to the Recreation Department so that children from the Recreation Department may attend this baseball game with us, for free. There is only a limited number of tickets so pay to reserve your seats on-line, now, at our WEBSITE. The ASC will mail the tickets to you in April.
May 25th. Plan to attend the ASC’s 61th Annual Awards Banquet at The Westin Alexandria on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016. The ASC will recognize Athletes of the Year from all High School sports and will reward deserving student-athletes with financial scholarships. Craig Esherick, former Georgetown Basketball Head Coach, sports commentator and current Program Coordinator of the George Mason University Sports Management Program will be our featured speaker. This is the biggest single night sports event in Alexandria. All proceeds from the Banquet go directly to our Scholarship Fund. More information will be forthcoming on how to purchase tickets.
Lastly, thanks to the high school baseball and softball coaches, and Alexandria Aces head coach David DeSilva, for making our last monthly meeting in February such a fun and meaningful event. Get out and support our City’s spring sports, including a visit to our own Alexandria Aces first home game of the season on June 7th at 7pm at Frank Mann Field in Four Mile Run Park. See you at the ballpark!
Thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
