Three New Capital Bikeshare Stations for the City

Three new stations have been added to our Capital Bikeshare network – 1. Madison St. & N. Henry St., 2. St. Asaph St. & Madison St., next to the Harris Teeter and 3. King St. Metro North / Cameron St.

DASH Bus Updates

DASH Celebrates 32 Years of Driving Alexandria Safely Home

On Friday, March 11, DASH will celebrate 32 years of Driving Alexandria Safely Home. To show appreciation to their riders, DASH Operators will be handing out a small gift on Friday, March 11.

DASH began service on March 11, 1984 as a non-profit public service corporation, wholly owned by the City of Alexandria. DASH began with four routes and a fleet of 17 buses. Today, DASH operates 10 routes with 86 buses, and the King Street Trolley with five trolleys. DASH carries four million customers annually.

To purchase, reload or set up for auto-load for your DASH Pass, click HERE. You can then create or log in to your account and purchase your DASH Pass for the low price of $40. Enjoy the same money-saving, economical DASH Pass without the paper. Simply load your DASH Pass directly onto your regional SmarTrip Card!

The DASH pass is available only on SmarTrip Cards and valid for unlimited rides on all DASH buses during the calendar month.

Mobile Store

Mobile Store in March

At the City’s Commuter Mobile store you will be able to purchase bus passes, add money to your SmarTrip card as well as purchase them (Senior cards included), purchase Capital Bikeshare memberships,  sign up for Guaranteed Ride Home, and get commuting advice at a location that is convenient for you. The mobile store has consistent stops each month and attends different City special events throughout the year.

City Wins Award!

Construction of the Potomac Yard Trail won the award for Best Bicycling Improvement in 2015 in Virginia from the Washington Area Bicyclists’ Association (WABA) on Thursday, February 25. The nearly 2-mile trail connects Braddock Road Metro Station with Potomac Yard, via the 23-acre Potomac Yard Park.

How to Sell a Telework Program to Your Boss

Are you ready to try working from home a few days a week but your boss or employer isn’t quite on board? Send Robin Mack an email  rmack@teleworkva.org or give her call 571.418.8135, ext. 700 to get tips and strategies on how to “sell” telework at your job.

Robin helps run Virginia’s Telework!VA program and can offer all kinds of information and technical assistance to help you and your employer both see and eventually realize all the great benefits from teleworking. Her time and services are free to all employers in the City.
