Don Taco Grand Opening Celebration in O’Town | Fireman Mike | Old Town Post

Dan Taco will be celebrating their Grand opening with a gala at their restaurant on Saturday, April 2, 2016.  The following excerpt was take from their Facebook public invite to the party:

As we begin our fourth week of being open for business at Don Taco, we’d like to invite all of our friends and new neighbors to join us for a celebration of our successful opening on King Street! Please join us this Saturday, April 2nd at Don Taco and help us congratulate our incredible staff on all of their hard work and an awesome first month in business. So many of the people of Alexandria and beyond have welcomed us and our new concept with open arms and we appreciate it the world over! We can’t wait to see everyone this Saturday. Thank you!

Don Taco Tequila Bar, formerly Flat Iron Steak House, officially  opened on March 7, 2016 in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.  The Mexican themed restaurant is located at 808 King Street.

They are now open for both lunch and dinner and stay open late.

Prior to the event, I had to give their restaurant a try for lunch today.  It was awesome. I ordered the guacamole with chips as an appetizer.  The guac was great and the chips were fresh and crisp.

img_6580I ordered the lunch course next.  The tacos come in a exceptional variety of flavors.  I tried the pork belly and pomegranate glazed skirt steak.  The tacos were delicious. They are served with a corn tortilla as opposed to a flour tortilla.

I also had a margarita with my lunch which was extremely tasty.  I’d have to say it is the best in Old Town.  Perhaps it is the best because they use quality tequila, use fresh squeezed lime juice versus sweet and sour mix, and utilize agave as a hint of sweetness instead of simple syrup.

Andrea was the lunch time bartender. She was friendly, personable, and on time all the time with ordering, plate set up, food delivery and mixing drinks.  The bar was full and she was not frazzled in the least. She was superb.
