On July 27, at approximately 9:55 p.m., units responded to the 1300 block of Gatewood Drive for reports of a house on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and fire showing from a one-story single-family home. An aggressive attack was conducted and the fire was brought under control. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

The house had working smoke alarms that activated at the time of the fire. An occupant of the house discovered the fire and alerted the other occupant prior to the alarms activating. Two adults have been displaced. Red Cross assistance was declined. Total property loss is estimated at $93,750.

Investigation revealed that the fire was accidental and originated outside the home inside a pool pump enclosure. The fire extended up to the roofline and entered the attic space. The cause was determined to be an electrical event involving the pool pump motor.
