Kit-Keung Kan | Falls, Waves, and White Water

A master of the Chinese brush technique, Kit-Keung Kan has a unique perspective and often adds unexpected elements to his work.  This exhibit features many works where he has written and incorporated verse in Chinese calligraphy which are translated into English in the collateral materials.
Kit-Keung Kan was born in Panyu, China. He studied traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy at an early age. He obtained his PhD degree in Physics at University of Maryland in 1975. Since then, he had held thirty-eight solo exhibitions, including one at Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and participated in more than seventy group exhibitions in China, US, Taipei, Hong Kong, and other cities throughout the world. His work is collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, American Embassy in Moscow, International Monetary Fund, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Copelouzos Museum in Athens, Greece, and many private and corporate collectors.

National Park Service Historian John Sprinkle

Children’s Art Workshop

Join artist Kit-Keung Kan for a hands-on art workshop for children ages 8 to 12. Basic Chinese brush and ink techniques will be introduced, and the effects of wet and dry brushes on rice paper will be explored.
