Save the Date: Saturday, September 17 from 9–11 a.m.
Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison Street, Alexandria)
Are you interested in volunteering in the Ocean Conservancy’s 31st Annual International Coastal Cleanup?  This cleanup has been coordinated by Clean Virginia Waterways for the last 21 years, and is also sponsored by the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services (T&ES) Stormwater Management Division and Public Works Services Division, and the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA).  This is an annual statewide event to clean our waterways and collect valuable data about trash and litter in our waterways.  We will be cleaning Oronoco Bay Park – rain or shine.
  • Oronoco Bay Park at 100 Madison Street.  Volunteers will meet at the end of Madison Street near the Rowing Clubhouse.
What to wear? Volunteers should wear shoes and clothes that they do not mind getting dirty; trash bags and gloves will be provided.
Volunteers interested in participating must RSVP to Sara DeGroot at sara.degroot@alexandriava.gov by September 14th.  Registration will occur at the end of Madison Street on Saturday morning.  For more sites in Alexandria and the region, visit the Clean Virginia Waterways Fall Cleanup page.
