According to documents filed with Alexandia’s Planninng and Zoning, Union Street Public House (USPH) has applied for a Special Use Permit to have rooftop dining at the restaurant located at 121 S. Union Street in Old Town, Alexandria.
The rooftop dining proposed hours of operation are from 11:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be 15 dining seats available in a 140 square foot area.
Access to the outdoor dining area would be created by transforming an existing window into a door. The outdoor dining area would be located on top of the middle potion of the building. This one story section connects the two two-story sections of the restaurant.
The first hurdle for USPH is to get approval from the planning commission. That hearing is set for September 8, 2016. The planning commission staff report has recommended approved of USPH’s outside dining report. After the commission hearing then the next step will be for USPH to get approval from City Council at the September 17, 2016 hearing.
It looks like patrons of USPH may be dining under the stars on South Union Street this fall.
