The Park and Recreation Commission will hold a public hearing to receive information and recommendations from staff on the applications received for the FY 2017 Community Matching Fund on Thursday, September 15, 2016, 7 p.m., at the Charles Houston Community Center, 901 Wythe St. Following the public hearing, the Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting.
The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities established the Community Matching Fund (Fund) with the approval of the FY 2017-FY 2026 Capital Improvement Budget. The Fund promotes collaborative partnerships among City of Alexandria community organizations by providing matching 1:1 dollars for groups that propose fundraising for park and recreation improvement projects.
FY 2017 Community Matching Fund requests and staff recommendations will be posted online by Friday, September 16. Individuals unable to attend the Public Hearing are encouraged to send written comments by 5 p.m. Friday, September 30 to Jack Browand by email at Jack.Browand@alexandriava.gov or standard mail to RPCA, Attn: Jack Browand, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria VA 22314. All comments received by September 30 will be forwarded to the Park & Recreation Commission for consideration at their October 20 regular monthly meeting.
