NWS Issues Coastal Flood Advisory for Alexandria | Weather Alert | Old Town Post

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a coastal flood advisory for Alexandria and the surrounding areas until 12:00 p.m. on September 30, 2016.

A coastal flood advisory means that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

Upcoming high tides in Alexandria will be at 8:18 p.m. this evening September 29, 2016 (3.1 feet) and then at 8:39 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 (3.1 feet).

The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 8:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2016.  A powerful low pressure system over Kentucky will bring periods of heavy rain into our area until Friday morning.

Widespread rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are expected. Localized amounts of up to a foot of rain are possible.

If you see water crossing a roadway turn around and don’t drown.
