Jackson 20 to Host ‘Soil to Soul’ Fundraiser October 20th


On Thursday, Oct 20th, Jackson 20 and Monaco Alexandria, a Kimpton Hotel will host “Soil to Soul,” a block party fundraiser benefitting the Alexandria Old Town Farmers’ Market SNAP/EBT Double Dollar Program. The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Monaco Hotel (480 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314).


The evening will feature seasonal food from local farms and restaurants prepared by local chefs from Jackson 20, Vermillion, Ashiar and Brabo by Robert Wiedmaier utilizing ingredients and produce available at the Old Town Farmers’ Market. The evening will also feature live entertainment and a cash bar featuring a selection of Virginia wines and local beers. Several Old Town Farmers’ Market vendors will be onsite for a special pop-up market with treats and products for sale, including Dimitri Olive Farm, Amalthea Ridge, Senzu Juicery and Baked by Yael.


The SNAP Double Dollar Program allows SNAP (formerly known as the food stamp program) beneficiaries that visit the Old Town Farmers’ Market to swipe their EBT card and receive up to $20 in double dollar tokens to use to purchase eligible food products at the Old Town Farmers’ Market. The Double Dollar program is an incentive to get more families to shop at farmers’ markets providing them access to healthy, locally grown foods.


Tickets for this event are $35 per person. From each ticket sold, $25 will be donated to support the SNAP/EBT Double Dollar Program.
