Alexandria, VA – October 27, 2016 – Due to the overwhelming success of its passport processing program, the Alexandria Library is pleased to announce that it has expanded the service to the Barrett Branch. U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for new passports at Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library (5005 Duke Street) and Barrett Branch (717 Queen Street).

Since debuting the service in July 2015, the Library’s staff has helped over 7,000 community members apply for a U.S. passport. The passport program brings new income/revenue to the larger Alexandria community through customer use of local photo and money order vendors, and other neighboring businesses (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.). In addition to its formal passport acceptance hours, the Library’s staff provides information and assistance over the phone and in person during its operating hours to those interested in applying for or renewing a U.S. passport.

Our trained staff is available to help you with the submission of new passport applications, supply copies of applicable forms, and provide information on other passport services. Passport application review and submission services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis during the following times:

Beatley Central
Tuesday through Thursday: 3pm – 7pm.
Saturday: 11am – 3pm
