As part of the City’s Parking Management Work Plan, City Council has asked staff to develop a policy outlining how to handle the issue of residential parking permits for residents of new development. This issue has come up during the public hearings for several recent developments (Robinson Terminal South/North, Edens, and Ramsey). Staff has prepared a draft policy that we would like to share with the public and get feedback on prior to advancing to the Planning Commission and Council. The draft Policy and background materials can be found on the project website: www.alexandriava.gov/96431
City Staff will be holding an Open House on Thursday, March 16 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at City Hall (Sister Cities Room 1101) to present the draft policy and receive feedback. Stations will be set up to allow citizens to provide topic specific comments directly to staff or ask questions about the proposed policy. Stations will include background information related to this draft Policy and results from related parking surveys. Members of the public are encouraged to come by anytime between 7:00-8:30 p.m. A brief presentation will be held at 7:30.
Those unable to attend the Open House, can be email comments and questions to Katye North with Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
