Alexandria’s fundraising extravaganza Spring2ACTion is tomorrow, April 5th. In 2016, $1,337,493 was raised for 152 nonprofits. “Spring2ACTion is a 24-hour online event that provides a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most and encourages them to take action. This virtual fundraising effort, hosted by ACT for Alexandria with the help of generous sponsors, will offer local nonprofits the chance to raise thousands of dollars for the benefit of all Alexandria.” – according to the initiative’s website.
This year Alexandria’s Museums have joined forces for Spring2ACTion. All of them provide valuable programs and events. Alexandria’s Museums include:
- Alexandria Archaeology Museum,
- Apothecary Museum,
- Alexandria Black History Museum,
- Carlyle House,
- Fort Ward Museum,
- Friendship Firehouse Museum,
- Gadsby’s Tavern Museum,
- Lee Fendall House Museum, and
- The Lyceum: Alexandria’s History Museum.
Most of the museums are housed in Old Town and heighten our richness of culture. If you feel the benefit these museums provide by enhancing our community you can give back tomorrow for Spring2ACTion. If you have a particular favorite you can donate to the museums individually but if you can’t decide because of the plethora of cultural, artful, historic, educational, fun, and entertaining events all of our museums showcase the museum bundle is a great option.

Last, but certainly not least, there is a special Spring2ACTion Happy Hour Fundraiser tomorrow, April 5th, from 6 to 8 o’clock, at historic Lloyd House (220 N. Washington)! Cheers!
