Residents that receive City refuse collection services are eligible to receive Spring Clean-Up on a Saturday in April or May. Residents are encouraged to clear out household clutter and place unwanted bulky trash and metal items at the curb on your neighborhood collection date. The City is divided into four collection areas and each area is assigned a specific Saturday. Metals and electronics should be separated from other collection items, as they will be picked up during a separate collection. Please do not set out yard waste. Smart Food Shopping Reduces Waste
Americans throw away 40% of the food they purchase according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. Growing, processing, and distributing food uses valuable resources such as fertile soil, fresh water, and fuel. Rotting food in landfills creates gases that contribute to climate change. Food waste can be reduced by planning a weekly menu, then creating a shopping list based on the menu, making smart use of the freezer, and eating ‘left-overs’ before they go bad.
