October is National Shelter Dog Month.– that coupled Old Town’s love of dogs and Oktoberfest only naturally gives you Dogtoberfest. “Dogtoberfest is an opportunity to share your love for dogs and cats with others, and support organizations in our community that are dedicated to pet adoption and sheltering homeless animals,” said Margaret Townsend, President of the Old Town North Community Partnership.

Paws in the Park — Outdoor Festival for Dogs & Cats

In honor of Dogtoberfest there will be an outdoor festival on Saturday, October 28th from 1 – 3pm in Old Town North’s Montgomery Park. The Paws in the Park festival will feature dog and cat friendly events including pumpkin painting, doggie and kiddie costume parade, paw readings, K9 games, and a Frisbee dash. There will also be a charity raffle that will include gift certificates from River’s Edge Yoga, Pet Stay and VaCay, and more!

Admission for the festival is $10.00 for 1 adult and 1 dog. Children under 12 are free. You can buy tickets by clicking here.

Proceeds will benefit the Lost Dog Foundation and King Street Cats, an adoption facility for cats. The rain date for Paws in the Park is Sunday, October 29th.

Dogtoberfest Celebrates Dogs, Cats and Supports Pet Adoption and Shelters

 

October offers events to bring dogs, cats, adults, and kids together for fun, games, and charitable causes in support of National Shelter Dog Month

 

Alexandria, VA – October 9, 2017 – Dogtoberfest is party time with pets – an opportunity to celebrate the dogs and cats we know and love, and to help other dogs and cats throughout our community that are in need. Pet owners, dog and cat lovers, and supporters of animals in need are invited to dog and cat-themed events this month – National Shelter Dog Month – while giving back to local organizations that assist local animal shelters and pet adoption organizations.

 

This Happy Hour is for the Dogs

Bring your dog to Yappy Hour on Thursday, October 26th, from 5-7:30pm. Hosted by the Eisenhower Partnership, the Yappy Hour locale will be the outdoor patio at the Holiday Inn Alexandria-Carlyle, 2460 Eisenhower Avenue. The event will include a cash bar, silent auction, and raffle, with proceeds to benefit the Lost Dog and Cat Foundation.
