Hi Folks,

“You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients.” – Julia Child

Join us today at The Old Town North Community Market, Alexandria’s favorite Dog- Friendly Market. 901 North Royal Street, Montgomery Park, the Canal District. 3-7

Lionel Lopez continues to share his fall harvest with us, fresh from the family farm in the Northern Neck. Last week I picked up lovely young sweet potatoes, perfect baked or lightly steamed. Lionel recommends  simply giving them a good scrub and eating them raw, I shall try that next.

Sara of Dream of Goodies delights with an egg-less version of her pumpkin spice cookies for those with egg allergies and boxes of cake bites in assorted flavors.  She will also have pumpkin spice cupcakes made with real pumpkin and organic spices, mini loaves of organic banana bread sweetened with banana only, and assorted mini cakes.  All of Sara’s goodies are low glycemic, gluten free, non-GMO and delicious.  Ana of Sweet Twist brings us pumpkin ice cream and sorbet dairy free and oven baked empanadas. Ana’s Empanadas make a perfect easy supper. We welcome Julia of TigerSoap back to the market today. Julia brings us a variety of hand crafted soaps, candles, lotions and more.

For a complete list of produce in season, please visit: http://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/pdf/producechart.pdf

Our friends from The Carpenter’s Shelter will be with us at the market over the next few weeks sharing information about upcoming events this fall. Stop by the community table and say hello.

Sending good thoughts to Chef Michael as he recovers from a medical procedure. He should be back with us next week.

In the community…
