With Hurricane Florence looming, Carpenter’s Shelter must think of our residents and homeless neighbors first. Thus, it is with their safety in mind that we postpone our Open House & Donation Drive until Saturday, September 29th when staff and resources can be spared. We will host visitors for tours and volunteer orientation from 10 am to 12 noon and run a donation drive with easy curbside dropoff from 9 am to 12 noon. Your volunteerism and in-kind support are essential so we hope you’ll join us then!
When hurricanes, floods, heat waves, and blizzards arrive, most places prepare to close. Carpenter’s Shelter is different. Instead of closing down, we open the doors wider, making room for more residents, bringing on more staff, extending our hours, and doing everything we can to keep people safe. Our mission is service and we’re here when it counts.
You make our commitment to the community possible. If you want to make a contribution during this unpredictable weather, please click the donate button below. Even the smallest gift helps keep the lights on and the shelter open!
