|The Taste of Old Town North Celebrates Local Culture and Arts with
Annual Neighborhood Event
Food tastings, live music, wellness demos, and more highlight
Alexandria, VA- September 5, 2018- Get ready for an evening of free food, live music, fitness and wellness demos and more at the Annual Taste of Old Town North. The Taste will take place September 20 beginning at 4:00PM in Montgomery Park, 901 North Royal Street at the intersection of Montgomery and Royal Streets in Alexandria’s vibrant Old Town North community.
In celebration of Old Town North and its recent designation as an Arts and Cultural District by the City of Alexandria, the Taste will highlight local restaurants and the Thursday Farmer’s and Artisans’ Market.
Featured eateries include A La Lucia, Railstop Gastropub and Trader Joes. Fitness and wellness demos from Seichou Karate, Old Town Sport and Health, River’s Edge Yoga and various arts and cultural events add to the fun.
Live music from Three Man Soul Machine, a soul, jazz and reggae band, and singer, songwriter Laura Tsaggaris accompany the Tastings and the open air art class.
“The Taste of Old Town North is a wonderful community event, and I love being able to sample the goodies provided by local restaurateurs,” said City Council Member Del Pepper. I especially want to thank all the neighborhood businesses and property owners that contribute to this great evening in Montgomery Park.”
The Taste of Old Town North schedule of events includes:
· Farmer’s Market, 4-8PM
· Fitness and Wellness Demos, 4-5PM
· Food Tastings from Local Restaurants, 4-8PM
· Open Air Art Event (art class courtesy of the Art League) 5-7PM
· Live Music from Laura Tsaggaris [5-6PM] and Three Man Soul Machine (6-7PM)
· Staged reading with actors of The Guillotine Theatre Company, 7-7:15PM
The Taste of Old Town North is presented by The Old Town North Community
Partnership, The Montgomery Center, Canal Center, American Real Estate Partners, Carr Companies, and the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities with support from Crowne Plaza, Ivy Hill Cemetery Historical Preservation Society,
Wheel Nuts Bike Shop, Keller Williams-Artemel Associates, Old Town Sport and Health and River’s Edge Yoga.
In the two weeks leading up to the Taste of Old Town North, the public is invited to enjoy
‘Free Music on the Green’ in Montgomery Park, September 6th and 13th from 7-8PM, generously sponsored by Carr Companies, The Gables Residences and The Montgomery Center.
