In recognition of Fair Housing Month in April, the City of Alexandria and Alexandria-based law firm Mercer Trigiani are sponsoring a workshop, “Fair Housing Compliance for Condominium and Community Associations”. This workshop is offered at no cost to participants, but pre-registration is requested. The event will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 10am – 12pm at Patrick Henry Recreation Center.
This event is part of a series of workshops related to condominium and community associations. The goals for these workshops include educating first-time homebuyers about the structure and governance of condominium communities; strengthening the knowledge of community board members in understanding, managing and amending governing documents; and helping communities understand fair housing law related to community association management.
Condominiums have traditionally been the most affordable homeownership housing option for first-time homebuyers in the City of Alexandria. Recognizing the importance of the City’s condominium communities in preserving the City’s economic and social diversity, the City hopes to broaden awareness of community association management in hopes of strengthening and preserving these resources for the future.
